Bariatric Support Group
This group is for individuals that have had bariatric surgery. This group is lead by trained facilitators. Participants are also given an opportunity to have questions addressed by the multidisciplinary bariatric team including a bariatirc surgeon, a bariatric internal medicine physician, a behavioral medicine specialist and a nutrition education specialist.

Bariatric Surgery Program: Introductory Session
This group is an introductory conference for individuals interested in learning about bariatric surgery. Family members and friends of participants are welcome. Participants are provided with an overview of the Bariatric Surgery Program at Reliant Medical Group by a multi-disciplinary team including a bariatric surgeon, a bariatric internal medicine physician, a behavioral medicine specialist and a nutrition education specialist. Participants also have an opportunity for questions.

Celiac Support Group
This group is facilitated by a registered dietitian and offered three times annually. This support group is open to individuals with celiac disease or dermatitis herpetiformis as well as their family members or significant others. Group members have the opportunity to share experiences living with a gluten-free meal plan and to learn from our guest speakers. Program topics include nutrition, menu planning, handling special events, dining out, etc. Participants are also provided with gluten-free refreshments and copies of gluten-free recipes.

Change Your Weighs
Individuals interested in weight management can attend a group introductory session followed by individual counseling sessions with a registered dietitian. Participants work toward achieving a healthier weight by establishing personal behavior change goals tailored to fit their individual lifestyles and needs.

Diabetes Nutrition
Diabetes Nutrition is a program for individuals who are newly diagnosed with diabetes, or those who have been living with diabetes for years. The focus of the session provides education about carbohydrate management.

Diabetes Support Group
A registered dietitian who is also a certified diabetes educator facilitates this program. It meets eight times per year and offers individuals living with diabetes as well as their family members or significant others an opportunity to expand upon the education obtained from their individual healthcare providers. Physicians and other members of the diabetes care team serve as guest speakers.

DOT Drug & Alcohol Testing Programs - Supervisor Training
The Reliant Medical Group Division of Behavioral Medicine offers training for supervisors who make "reasonable suspicion" determinations in the workplace under DOT drug and alcohol testing rules. If you are responsible for this activity in your company, this training may be most valuable to you.
This program meets the Massachusetts Department of Transportation's requirement for two hours of training on alcohol and drug misuse [49 CFR 382.603]. After completing the training, each participant will receive a certificate documenting their compliance with this requirement.

General Cancer Support Group
Reliant Medical Group is providing a General Cancer support group. We encourage patients, caregivers, friends and family to attend. These support group sessions are held the 3rd Tuesday of each month from 1:00pm-2:00pm. The support group meets in the Lifetime Center which is located in Suite 170 (the north-side of the Atrium level and is next to the Lakeview Medical Supply Store).

Gestational Diabetes Nutrition
This class meets weekly and is designed for pregnant women recently diagnosed with gestational diabetes. Participants learn how to manage blood sugar levels throughout their pregnancy by carbohydrate management, label reading and meal planning.

Heart to Heart Connection
This support group is offered eight times annually and serves as a support group for individuals diagnosed with coronary artery disease. Participants, with their family members or significant others, are provided an opportunity to expand their knowledge of risk factor modification to prevent a cardiac event. Discussion topics vary, but always include a nutrition and stress management component.

Heart Healthy Eating
This class is offered at various Reliant Medical Group locations on a monthly basis. Heart Healthy Eating offers participants education on low-fat eating, label reading, recipe modification and dining out to help prevent heart disease.

Look Good...Feel Better
A free, supportive, informative and enjoyable first step toward renewed self-esteem, self-confidence and emotional recovery for women undergoing radiation or chemotherapy. This American Cancer Society program teaches women with cancer to look their best, regardless of the physical changes caused by treatment. Wig care, scarf & hat use, skin care & nail care will be discussed. Participants also receive a free makeup kit.

Pediatric Weight Control
This class is offered to the parents of children between the ages of 5 and 11 who are in need of weight control. Parents are introduced to a non-diet approach to weight management. A workbook is provided to assist the parent in improving the overall quality of the child’s eating while focusing on positive eating behaviors. Individual follow-up with parent and child is available after a parent attends class.

Take Charge of Triglycerides
This program, offered at several Reliant Medical Group locations monthly, is designed for the individual with elevated blood triglycerides with or without elevated blood cholesterol. Participants are counseled on carbohydrate management, low-fat eating, label reading, recipe modification and dining out. Patients with diabetes would be best served by first attending the Diabetes Nutrition class for management of elevated blood triglyceride levels.

Teen Weight Management
This class is offered to adolescents in need of weight management strategies. Exercise and healthy food and beverage choices are discussed. Patients also are introduced to a non-diet approach to weight loss with a focus on behavioral changes and goal setting. Individual follow-up is offered.
